The last election of Occupational Science Europe was held in 2023. The call for nomination received a total of 4 electible candidates. After an online and open voting for OSE members (email list), three new members joined the Board.
Therefore the new member of the Board are:
Claire Hart
“I wish to be considered for a position on the Occupational Science Europe Board in order to support the work of OSE in developing occupational science across Europe. I greatly appreciate the role played by OSE in my own professional development as it has provided valuable knowledge exchange opportunities and a sense of community.
In my role as an Assistant Professor, I demonstrate an ongoing commitment to promoting occupational science to students, academic and practice colleagues. I enjoy contributing to the active dissemination of key occupational messages and supporting the development of contemporary theory. I feel I can contribute to epistemic reflexivity in occupational science through critical discourse and already take an active role as part of the Occupational Science Europe Research Group.
I have a professional, practical and research interest in the needs of marginalised groups and wish to broaden insight into diverse experiences of occupation. I believe that the most crucial role for occupational science lies in our ability to generate both depth and breadth in our understanding of occupational lives. Through nuanced awareness of occupation in the lives of diverse populations we make a more meaningful contribution to inclusive and meaningful practice for occupation focused disciplines. Doing so requires a critical approach to all aspects of the occupational science knowledge base – challenging tacit knowledge, established theories, and existing evidence. It requires us to reappraise how we generate knowledge in order to welcome alternative voices and encourage effective engagement with all populations.
I have a growing reputation across Europe and contribute to a number of educational and research developments which I feel enable me to make a useful contribution to the board. I work well with others, and autonomously, and actively encourage the participation and engagement of others. I feel that my experience as a practitioner, academic and researcher will enable me to contribute to meeting the aims of the board and position me as a suitably member-focussed contributor. “
WE WOULD ALSO LIKE TO THANK THESE CANDIDATES!
We hope to see you involved in OSE! We would be honoured to have your commitment, motivation and expertise within the network (committees, activities, or any other idea you might have).
